Lauren Watrous

Lauren Watrous was born in Bernardston, Massachusetts in 1980. She has studied fine art at The Putney School, in Putney Vermont, The School of the Art Institute of Chicago, where she studied for three years, and Vermont College where she received her BA. In September she will begin studying for her MFA through Massachusetts College of Art and Design’s low-residency program at The Fine Arts Work Center in Provincetown, MA.

Lauren has spent her life exploring music, theatre, performance, sculpture, installation, photography, film, sound, fiber arts, drawing, painting and printmaking. Her focus for the past eight years has been on painting. Her current work explores a tangled, overlapping world where animated figures, gestures, colors, and abstracted forms cohabit a fanciful landscape.
